As a small child do you remember hiding from the monsters under your covers? If you lay really still maybe the monster that was living under your bed would just go away. Or maybe you just finally fell asleep. Can you recall that nervous energy and fear that built up in the pit of your stomach? As an adult, I still get that overwhelming feeling of fear. Although the fear is not monsters living under my bed, it is the pressures of the ins and outs of the day to day routine Are you facing some type of fear in your life that just keeps getting the best of you?
Isaiah 43:5 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.”
There are so many people that are living in fear today due to the circumstances going on around them. Whether they have control or not, it is overwhelming. But, sisters, rest assured that the fear you are experiencing today will have to face the God you know tomorrow. God is the ultimate encouraging force that you need to withstand any fear you are experiencing. Think about the Casting Crowns song, “Nobody”, part of the lyrics are, “Moses had stage fright, David brought a rock to a sword fight,…” How wonderful is it knowing that no matter what weapon you bring to the fight, God’s courage is much more.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.”
God empowered Moses and David in their battles, and He will do the same for you. No matter what battles you face, whatever fear you feel, never allow it to doubt the presence of God who is armed and ready to fight your battles.
Trust me. I know it is hard to fully give up control, but remember God’s promise in Isaiah 43:2 “When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you.”
God tells us several times “do not fear”. But it is easy to do. We will be face to face with fear some point in our lives, but what you will remember is how you overcame that fear, not the fear itself. So, the fear you are feeling today or the fear you are being faced with, seek your courage from our Almighty God.
We are reminded in Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for you.”
He is the God of courage and He works on the behalf of you and me. Seek Him and you will receive, it may not all be
visible to you at the time, but fully trust that He is making a way. After all, He is a faithful and courageous God.
I have had to constantly remind myself this week that fear is a liar. You can do anything you set your mind to. Do not let fear hold you back from following your dreams or pursuing Gods plan for your life. Embrace the fact that God has placed you where you are right now and remember He doesn’t expect you to face it alone. Thanks be to God.
