How many of you check under the memories tab on your Facebook? You know the one I am talking about; it will have the status or picture you posted 7 years ago on this day and even will sometimes tell you who you friended on that day.
I will have to admit for a while, I stopped looking at the memories tab. Of course, you have those memories that make your heart swell with love and pride. For me, those are the pictures of my firstborn who is now sitting across the room from me doing his Kindergarten homework. But then you also have those memories that pop up that literally take your breath away and flood your mind with painful times. Perhaps the picture itself was not a painful time, but the memories surrounding the contents of the picture are tough for you to remember. Even if social media is not your thing, memories of the past still show up, sometimes when you least expect it.
Scars as a symbol
Let’s face it. As much as we hate to admit, we have all been through some type of hurt or mishap that left scars. Whether those scars are physical, emotional, or mental it is part of YOUR make up. Those scars are a symbol that you survived, you got through it, and you are probably not the person you used to be because of them. I can personally relate to those scars becoming my pathway to the person I am today. Your wounds tell a story-let them!
“That pain you’ve been feeling, can’t compare with the joy that coming.” Romans 8:18
Stop carrying the weight of your past mistakes and scars. Surrender my sweet friends and find redemption on your knees. God will pull you out of that dreadful place of guilt and shame and make you a survivor. His love will come crashing in and rescue you. God has a purpose for your pain, a reason for your struggle, and a gift for your faithfulness-don’t give up!
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”
Psalm 147:3
Remember those situations and painful times do not define you, God created you for so much more! Grow through what you go through! You are fearfully and wonderfully made, scars and all!
Thanks be to God.
