“If not now then when? If not me then who?” – John E. Lewis
It amazes me when I look at how far we are into this year already. We are more than halfway through 2019. Time literally waits for no one. The pace of life is speeding up, and so should we. Especially when we are constantly delaying that which God has called us to do.
FEAR AND LACK OF FAITH
Procrastination is the thief of time. Too often you see people procrastinating or coming up with excuses to why they are not ready to take action. Why is it? Well, one of the reasons why is because of fear. Fear of the unknown; fear of stepping out of their comfort zone; fear of failing; fear of the critics; fear of not being good enough.
Another reason is the lack of faith. We’ve all struggled with this at some point in our lives. Even our friend Peter. Remember him? For a moment, Peter was feeling confident about stepping out of the boat up until he took his eyes off of Jesus. The moment he became aware of his surrounding, he immediately started to sink. The moment we fix our eyes on all that is going on around us instead of trusting that Jesus is on the other side ready to take us by the hand, we start sinking.
NOTHING AMAZING HAPPENS WHEN WE ARE PLAYING IT SAFE
With all that being said, take the risk. The time is now. “If not now then when? If not you then who?” Quit playing it safe. Trust that if God has called you out of the boat, that He will be right there to guide you on the journey. The world needs you; the world needs us. There are things that God has called you to do that need to be done now. Be that courageous, ambitious and encouraging woman, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend that this world needs you to be. Tomorrow is too late. Yesterday is already gone – the time is now! You can do this.
“Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world” – 1 John 4:4
