Refusing the Bad Seed of Burden

Refusing the Bad Seed of Burden

written by Faith August 6, 2019

Have you ever felt like life was an uphill hike with a hundred-pound pack? God never promises life will be easy. He does tell us the heavy baggage we carry isn’t ours. When God is our guide, all that’s left to do is trust and be led.

Refusing the Bad Seed of Burden

“Everything is on me”
As soon as that thought enters my mind an invisible weight settles on my shoulders. Any hunger I may have felt melts as the poisonous vine of burden buds in my chest. My delicious muffin may as well be cardboard after that.

Have you ever felt this way?

You’re a wife and a mama. The mediator and the hustler. Perhaps you are the caregiver to a spouse or other family member. There are so many unique struggles facing the people of God. Regardless of the situation, there is always the temptation to allow burdens a space in the garden of our hearts. This seed is a deadly weed I find myself pulling up more than I’d like.

Why?

Burdens Steal Joy

we aren’t careful the cares of life become so crushing they suck the joy out of everything. The good news is that joy is abundant in Christ and a strength on which we thrive.
For the joy of the Lord is my strength Nehemiah 8:10
We need only activate it in our lives.

Its A Choice

As soon as a thought enters our mind we can either accept or reject it.                                                                                     We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
That means that we teach our minds and hearts what is sewable, Biblical philosophy and what is defeating. How wonderfully made we are!

If you’re like me, you struggle to get there and that’s okay.  As I grow in Christ I learn to utilize the tools provided in scripture. Studying gives perspective, allowing me to focus on Christ rather than drown in despair.

Firmly Grip Truth

It’s important that we study His word and seek His face every day. I find myself opening my Bible app now more than ever. The more intentional we become about our faith walk the more we begin to apply those Biblical truths in our daily lives.  Instead of our minds being flooded with toxic thoughts, we will find ourselves saying, “Wait…you
know what. I reject this burden and I choose to rest in perfect peace”
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

What a comfort found in knowing, without a doubt, the burden isn’t mine. I pray that you would rest in the knowledge that God loves you so much He has taken on the impossibly heavy things. He is actively working so that you can steadily rest in supernatural peace found only in Him.  I am beyond grateful.
