And suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the
waves; but Jesus was sleeping… (Matthew 8:24)
In this scripture Jesus Himself is giving us the perfect example of what to do during a storm. Keep on sleeping, not worth losing any sleep over it, because as another scripture says: Matt 6:27 AMP – And who by you by worrying can add one hour to (the length of) his life? Now I know it’s way easier said than done. Once you are in the midst of whatever you are struggling with (Your storm), it is hard to see the light, keep the faith and continue sleeping when all the worries keep you in fact awake. But I am here to say…..Trust and keep on sleeping.
One step at a time
The question might be, how in this world do I keep on trusting and believing that things will change, that my prayer will be answered when it doesn’t happen for years and years. The answer is simple, don’t think too much about it, don’t try to figure it out all at once. Take it one step at a time. Ask God for giving you the strength to just make it day by day. Don’t fret about how and when and all the details with regards to the outcome, answer to prayer, whatever the
case may be. Just keep on hoping and trusting in childlike faith.
Hebrews 11:1 AMP
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality – faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses.
Why me?
I was diagnosed with a “disease” more than 10 years ago and was told that there is NO cure for it. You just must adjust your life to it. Some relief for the pain can be done by surgery and changing your eating habits. Both of which I have done several times with no apparent change. This is where all the questions start, Lord I have served You since I was fourteen, I have lived my life for you, Why me? Why do I have to go through this? Why, Why Why? The answer remains the same, Trust in God unwaveringly that He will change your circumstances because NOTHING is too difficult for Him to do.
Genesis 18:14 AMP
Is anything too difficult or too wonderful for the LORD? At the appointed time, when the season [for her delivery] comes, I will return to you and Sarah will have a son.
Ephesians 3:20 AMP
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us.
New hope
Two weeks ago, I had surgery again, and NO trace of “my disease” could be found. The effects of it being in my body were there, but nothing presently there to take care of. That is Who our God, Lord, and Savior is. The road has been difficult and uphill for years, but God showed me that it is worth trusting in Him, not that I serve and trust Him for the outcome, but just because of WHO He is. Now the storm is far from over, but I have new hope to keep on hoping and trusting for more miracles in my life and to keep me sleeping through the storms.
